Retrieval of Items from Lockers 

Dear Sunnyside Students and Families, 

This will be the process for the retrieval of student belongings from lockers. Students are invited to retrieve their belongings according to the schedule found below.  Any lockers that are not emptied by the end of June, will have their locks cut off, and items will be donated and/or discarded in July.

Please find information below which outlines the health and safety practices that must be followed as you and your child enter the school to retrieve belongings from lockers.

Before Coming to the School Site

Before coming to the school it is imperative that the parent/guardian and child complete the Region of Waterloo Public Health COVID-19 Self-Assessment and 

    • Be free of COVID-19 symptoms
    • Not have been in close contact with any individual diagnosed with COVID-19 or exhibiting potential COVID-19 symptoms
    • If the self-assessment indicates recommendations for care/isolation, and/or the conditions a) or b) are not met, do not come to the school/site.

Please only arrive at your designated date and time. The WRDSB has an obligation to follow social gathering requirements set out by the Government of Ontario as well as the critical physical (social) distancing criteria outside and inside the facility at all times.

Parking:

If you are driving, Please park your vehicle in the designated areas.

  • allow at least 2 metres (6.5 feet) of distance between your vehicle and any other vehicle(s) that may be present. 
  • Please do not bring in any additional items. A collection kit will be provided.

Entering the School:

  • Please line up outside the entry door according to the physical distancing markers 
  • Students are encouraged to come alone, however, one adult family member will be allowed to come with them if necessary.
  • A member of our staff will be at the entrance door to review Health and Safety information and provide you with information for how to move through the school site to your child’s locker.
  • You will be provided with a bag for your child’s locker items. Please DO NOT bring your own.
  • If you have left an item in a classroom, please ask supervising staff at time of pick up for assistance
  • Families/Students are encouraged to bring and wear masks or appropriate face coverings. Please note, masks will not be provided by the WRDSB.

Please use the bag as quickly and efficiently as possible.  Please do not enter any classrooms.

***It is important to note that even though it is exciting to see your friends or other families and staff members after such a long time away- this is not a time to socialize as we are still working under strict Ministry of Health guidelines that must be followed.

Travelling through the School:

Please enter at the parking lot door and travel directly to your locker.. No other areas of the school will be open to students.  As you travel through the school, reminder signs will be posted regarding social (physical) distancing and hygiene practices. Please ensure that you are practicing social (physical) distance at all times – ensuring you maintain a 2 metre (6.5 feet) physical distance between you and others at all times. 

Exiting the School:

Once done, please follow the directions to travel to the designated exit door). Please remember to ensure that you are practicing social (physical) distance at all times – ensuring you maintain a 2 metre (6.5 feet) physical distance between you. Please promptly leave school property to allow for others to enter and retrieve their personal belongings.

Important Notes:

    • Your child is encouraged to use this opportunity to return any school property, i.e., library books, text books, musical instruments, etc. Please note: for all returning students, all school technology may remain with the family through the summer, unless you are leaving the WRDSB for the next school year.
    • Students are welcome to enter the building alone (teachers will be inside monitoring), however, one adult family member will be allowed to come with them if necessary.
    • School washrooms will be closed.
    • School Offices, the library, the gym and all classrooms will be closed.

 

  • If you are feeling ill in any way, please do not come to the school.  Contact the Administrator to make alternative arrangements.

 

******GRADUATION CERTIFICATES AND GRADUATION PHOTOS WILL BE HANDED OUT TO OUR GRADE 8s DURING THIS TIME. REPORT CARDS ARE BEING MAILED TO FAMILIES.*******
