The City of Kitchener has identified that the playgrounds and park spaces of KinzieOaten, and Idlewood parks are in need of revitalization.
They also have very recently acquired Fergus Green – a public green space located at 120 Fergus Ave., that was created through the site plan process of the adjacent townhouse development at 110-136 Fergus Ave.

They are asking for community input. Through public engagement, their goal is to group these parks together into a ‘network’ so that the focus is not on simply replacing the playgrounds with another “cookie cutter” play space, but instead to really consider the users of the space and how they might better serve the community as a whole by treating these neighbourhood parks as unique, and in turn, providing unique amenities for each. They are also working closely on the upcoming Centreville Chicopee C.C. exterior site upgrades.  They will be considering this work within the same network, as this community centre is closely tied to the areas we are looking to engage within.

The survey closes March 14, 2022., however there will be further opportunity for their Phase 2 engagement early this summer to review conceptual designs for the park spaces, and provide further feedback.
